Annabel has been riding all her life and as soon as she had her own pony, at nine-years-old, joined the Warwickshire pony club where she later became an instructor. Eventing was her main passion to begin with and she successfully competed a variety of young horses up to Novice level.

Everything changed when a particularly difficult young horse came along. While Alfie simply wasn’t suited to Eventing, Annabel felt she couldn’t pass him on either, so she decided to run him in a point-to-point. He won for the first time on his second start and ran successfully for many years with a highlight being a spin round Cheltenham. By this point, the racing bug had really bitten.

For the last 20 years, Annabel has been training pointers and continuing her interests in other disciplines by riding a huge variety of horses. Initially, this was through working as a freelance rider, before setting up her own yard in 2013. Alongside pointers she also had racehorses for rest and pre-training, horses requiring rehabilitation as well as eventing and hunting liveries. In 2022, after living in Oxfordshire her whole life, she moved to Devon and set up her current yard at Elder Park.

Annabel has always been passionate about getting the best out of any horse and puts a lot of thought into how each individual works. The needs of the horses always come first, which is why Elder Park was a dream place to buy together with her partner, James Morrish. Turnout for all horses (except those needing confinement due to injury) has always been hugely important to her and she  is proud to be able to offer this all year.
